How big should my QR code be?
It really depends on two main factors: distance from QR code, and size of QR code. Fortunately, phones are getting much better at recognizing QR codes at smaller sizes. We always recommend doing a test (e.g. print on a piece of paper) before printing large runs of signage at any size. Below is a guide you can reference.
Scanning Distance | QR Code Size Range | Example |
1.5 - 2.5 feet | 2.4 - 6.3 inches | Magazines, Catalogs |
4 - 12 feet | 6.3 - 30 inches | Posters, Windows |
12 - 25 feet | 19 - 61.3 inches | Billboards |
Technically, the smallest it can be is roughly the size of a nickel (0.8" x 0.8").
